Planning a wedding always starts with the same two questions: where and when. Every other wedding supplier, hair and makeup included, is booked afterwards, in a fairly set order.
The order in which the first wedding suppliers are booked
The first step is to fix the date of the ceremony: with the church or place of worship if it is religious, or with the venue if it is civil or symbolic. Then the reception venue is booked and, usually, the wedding planner too, either the venue's own or an independent one. Photography and video come next.
When it is time to book hair and makeup
Straight after photography and video. That is why most brides write to me once the venue, the wedding planner and the photographer are already booked. Outside the high season four to six months ahead is enough, while in the high season at least eight is advisable, because the busiest months fill up first. Why it changes so much with the date is explained in how far in advance to book wedding hair and makeup.
Why only one wedding is taken on each day
As a rule I take on only one wedding a day, so once you book your date, that day is closed for you. Only in very exceptional cases do I take on two: when a last-minute wedding urgently needs help and the two schedules fit together very well.
