Full answer

At the trial, once your makeup is settled, I already know what will go into your touch-up kit. The shades chosen that day are the same ones I hand you on the wedding morning, so you can freshen up between photographs without having to go looking for anyone.

When the kit is made and when you receive it

The kit is not put together at the trial but in the weeks between the trial and the wedding. In that time I buy a miniature of the lipstick chosen for you. From the blush and the setting powder I used at your trial I take a sample: I scrape a little of each into a small jar with its own puff and lid. That way, what you carry in your bag is exactly what is on your face, not a shade that is merely close.

I give it to you on the morning of the wedding, in a small fabric pouch with my card. The pouch and the mirror may vary from one wedding to the next, depending on what the supplier has in stock, but they are always as close as possible to the ones in the photograph.

What the kit holds for your lips and your face

For your lips there is whatever was decided at the trial, because it depends on what you are wearing: a lipstick, a gloss or a balm, and sometimes a lip liner too. Today's textures are creamy, hydrating and very comfortable, but that comfort comes at a price: with eating, drinking and kissing, the colour slowly wears away. With it to hand, you can reapply it as often as you like.

On your face, blush is the first thing to fade, because all day long people hug you and kiss you on the cheek. Dancing and the Spanish heat also bring shine to the forehead, nose or chin. For both there are the jars of blush and setting powder, and a small mirror in case you need to check your face and there is none nearby.

What is in the hygiene pouch

Inside the kit there is a smaller pouch, meant above all for the end of the night. If you are spending the wedding night at a hotel rather than at home, you will want something to take your makeup off with, because a bride's eye makeup is waterproof and will not come away with a little soap and water. So the pouch holds a sample of makeup remover, a precision cotton bud and a compressed cleansing wipe, which let you remove waterproof mascara and false lashes, if you wear them, without any fuss.

The same pouch carries two things for during the wedding: blotting papers, which lift shine without taking your foundation with them, and a few hairpins, in case a strand of your hair needs putting back in place.

Who receives the kit and whether it costs extra

The kit is for the bride alone and is included in the bridal service. If you would like a more complete touch-up kit than this one, it can be quoted separately. With what it carries, a touch-up takes a minute in a quiet corner of the venue, and in the photographs of the last dance your face still has the colour it had in the morning.
