An acne mark is not hidden by piling more foundation on it. The more product builds up over it, the more it shows, so the work starts before the base, with the colour of the mark.
Why the corrector comes first
What gives an acne scar away is its colour more than its texture. So before anything else I apply correctors that neutralise that colour, on each mark only. Once the colour no longer shows, the base does not have to work to cover it, and it can stay light.
The base and the setting over the corrector
Over the corrector I apply the base, with the same coverage as the rest of the face, so the skin looks the same everywhere. It is set at the end, so the corrector and the base stay where they were put for the whole wedding day.
Why everything is as oil-free as possible
On skin with acne, every product with oil in it feeds the very problem that is being disguised. That is why the corrector, the base and the setting product are all chosen to be as oil-free as possible. If your skin is also oily, the finish matters too, as explained in the best makeup for oily or acne-prone skin.
