In the months before the wedding it is tempting to try everything: a new cream someone has recommended, a more intensive facial, a treatment that promises perfect skin. It is understandable, because you want to arrive at your wedding with the best skin possible, and that is exactly why care is needed.

Why the skincare routine should not change before the wedding

The best thing for your skin in the weeks before is to keep doing what it was already used to. The routine you have followed all year is the one your skin knows and tolerates, and changing it now only adds an unknown: a new product can irritate or cause a reaction just when there is least time for the skin to recover.

The treatments and procedures best left until afterwards

For the same reason, I strongly advise against aggressive treatments before the wedding. Nothing abrasive, like a peel that exfoliates the outermost layer of the skin, and nothing invasive, like treatments with needles. All of that can wait until after the wedding, when the skin has time to react and recover without hurry.

When to start a new skincare routine before the wedding

If you have no routine and want to start one, you can, but at least six months in advance. That time is for checking that no product gives you an allergy or a reaction, and for changing it calmly if one does.

How hyaluronic acid and vitamin C help makeup look its best

When I am asked which routine I recommend, I usually suggest one with hyaluronic acid and vitamin C. Hyaluronic acid hydrates the skin, and hydrated skin takes foundation evenly; vitamin C gives it light. Together they make makeup look far more luminous and fresh. So on the wedding morning the skin prep starts from skin that is already well, not from skin that needs rescuing.
